Tasty dinner in the Czech Republic. Really amazing pork, dumplings, and sauerkraut.

Not for girls?
This has got to at least raise some eyebrows for liberated women, who should be able to eat as much chocolate as any man. But then I'm not sure the girls are missing much - this was regular milk chocolate just in larger bites. There are much better ways to get fat.

Pad See Ew
Excellent Thai food from the restaurant around the corner. A welcome addition to the area.

Sparkling Sake
To be honest it didn't occur to me when I bought this that it was *sparkling* Sake. In fact, upon opening it I was in for a bit of a surprise, as it bubbled up the top. I think I like this better than champagne, and may use it instead next New Year's.
Think of it as champagne but slightly sweeter.

Coconut Pastry
$1.25 coconut pastry from a shop in Eden center. Quite tasty. They offered two free if you buy five. Speaking Vietnamese is optional, but finding a parking space is a miracle.

Sushi Plate
Sushi and Sashimi for Two from Yama in Vienna. The presentation is a little off because things shifted around in the "speed racer" drive home. The white tuna is especially nice.

Curry Puffs
Tasty curry puffs from Pasara in Kingstowne. Their Pad See Ew is great too. We have a "volunteer" who picks it up on his way to the office sometimes.

Very Blury NY Deli
This was a slice of poppy seed sponge cake, corned beef and lemonade $9.09! Outrageous and not even that good.
Pork Loin "Potatoes"
This wasn't so good, and as for the potatoes, I question it, I'm pretty sure it was butter and Cheeze Wiz, with a bit of starch mixed in.
The Buffet
I got this from a buffet that charged you by the pound and I'm pretty sure mashed potatoes contain lead as this meal was over $10!

Pint of blackberries
Definitely the finest I've had, these fresh blackberries picked at Tarara Winery are as good as they look. And that's my opinion before the wine tasting took place. Tarara also makes a great dessert wine, Wild River Red, using these blackberries. From their site:
Wild River Red - Blackberries from our own berry patches are blended with red and white wine to make a popular fruity red wine. Sweet and light, serve this wine lightly chilled with a rich chocolate dessert or as an aperitif.

Scorecard
Can't grade your restaurants without a scorecard! So we found this site that contains the Virginia Health Department inspection reports for all restaurants in Alexandria, VA.
Ironically, Le Rongeur Raide has one of the better records in our neighborhood.
Reports for the rest of the state of Virginia can be accessed off the main VDH page. Alexandria link is now on the Links section on the left of our blog.
If nothing else, reading the reports works better than the Atkins Diet.

Cadbury Picnic Bar
Unlike many candy bars, the Cadbury Picnic Bar contains raisins. It's quite good, but the caramel leaks out and sticks to the wrapper, making it hard to unwrap and eat neatly. Still recommended.
